Mount Sinai

Mount Sinai lies in the middle of the Sinai Peninsula and is a sacred place for Jews, Muslims, and Christians. Muslims consider this place to be the point where prophet Muhammed began his pilgrimage to heaven on a winged horse. Another place of religious significance and also tourist interest is the world heritage listed Monastery of St. Catherine.

This is a Greek Orthodox monastery that was found in the 6th century and is one of the longest-running ones in the world. Other places of interest here are the Monastery of St. Catherine, Well of Moses, Chapel of the Burning Bush, Omar mosque, and Monastery museum.
