El Nabatat Island

It is small, oval-shaped island in the Nile at Aswan. It is hardly a 1 kilometer long while its width is less than 1/2 a kilometer. Earlier it was called the Kitchener’s Island and was named after Lord Kitchener who owned the island. He transformed the island into a paradise with exotic trees and plants. Later, the Egyptian government made into a research station.

Today, it has become one of the most visited parts in Aswan. The Botanical Garden is lush green with a collection of subtropical, rare, exotic plants and trees. It is a great place to stroll around and spend a relaxed afternoon.
