Agilkia Island

This island is based in the reservoir of the Old Aswan dam along the river Nile. It has the Ancient Egyptian temple complex which was earlier located at Philae. People visit this small island mainly to see the temple complex. It was the ancient pilgrimage center for the cult of Isis for many centuries. It was venerated from the Pharaonic era until the Greek, Roman, and Byzantine time. Every ruler added some parts to the temple complex as a stamp of their rule.

The main things to see in this complex is the First Pylon that leads to the main temple area, the Forecourt, the Second Pylon that leads to the inner temple, the eight-columned vestibule, and the gateway to Hadrian.
